Empowering Individuals. Supporting Communities.
We support individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and the West Michigan communities where they live, work, and play.
The Down Syndrome Association of West Michigan Foundation (DSAWMF) was established to provide a permanent source of principal, so that funds would be available in the future to support individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and the West Michigan communities in which they live, work, and play. DSAWMF is a separate not-for-profit organization from the Down Syndrome Association of West Michigan (DSAWM), funded by cash, securities and other assets, and helps to fund the vital programs, supports and services provided by DSAWM.
The Winners Cup Benefit
In 2004, the Winners Cup Benefit was created to raise funding for the Down syndrome community in West Michigan. Proceeds from the annual Kentucky Derby themed party and auction benefit DSAWMF and, since its inception, have helped raise the value of the Foundation’s endowment to over $1.6 million. Save the date for the 2024 Winners Cup Benefit, and 20th anniversary of the event, on Saturday, May 4th!
Connecting Communities Capital Campaign
Connecting Communities is an $850,000 capital campaign that will allow us to fund our move to the new Special Olympics Michigan Unified Sports & Inclusion Center, expand staff and programming services, and build sustainability through an enhanced endowment fund.
